A better world begins when we become more ourselves.

I write, speak and host conversations exploring what becomes possible when we live with greater aliveness and agency, extend that same freedom to others, and bring more of our humanity to the world we share. I’d love to see you down the path.

Becoming is Messy

“The mess was never evidence that I was broken. It was evidence that I was becoming.”

I spent years becoming who I thought I was supposed to be, while quietly wondering why the life that looked so good didn't always feel like mine. Then, holding my newborn daughter, something inside me whispered: Do better. What followed was the long, messy path toward becoming more me.

Becoming Is Messy is that story. But beneath my story is an invitation for all of us: What if the parts of ourselves we've learned to hide, fix, or outgrow aren't the problem? What if they're trying to lead us back to our own aliveness?

In a world asking us every day who to be, what to fear, and which side to choose, perhaps one of the most human things we can do is learn to hear ourselves again, and then make room for each other to do the same.

Becoming Is Messy will be published by Koehler Books later this year.

  • “I really loved the book and know many women will learn from it. Your voice shines and the emotional resonance is undeniable. This is a story that will stay with readers."

    Early Reader Reflection

  • “I really enjoyed the way you started out with your background and then as the story continued it felt heightened and stressful with some major climactic moments and then it closed with a sense of empowerment and ease. I think your story will help women that are going through a challenging time feel like they have options and do not need to settle or be stuck if they are not happy or not being treated the way they deserve.”

    Early Reader Reflection

  • “I am crying because of the way you speak... the way your words resonate inside of me... I lived a different life but had much of the same pain.”

    Early Reader Reflection

  • “It was the one book I read this year within a week! It definitely drives you in!”

    Early Reader Reflection

  • “I just finished reading “Becoming is Messy” this morning. It’s a really good book! It was raw but so clearly honest and real. There were a few places where your turn of phrase, or your metaphors were so insightful and illuminating that I had to pause.”

The Unperfect Life Trilogy follows my path through the complexity of my own humanity. It is, ultimately, a love story. It just took me three books to realize it.

As host of the Becoming is MessyPodcast, I bring humans together for honest, curious conversations about what shapes us, what we’re learning, and what makes us feel most alive.

The conversations we have while we’re still figuring it out.

Maybe the most human thing we can do is learn to hear ourselves, and make room for each other to do the same.

Hi, I’m Meghann. I’m really glad you’re here.

There are a lot of ways I could introduce myself, but maybe the truest place to start is this: I’ve lived a lot of life.

I was born into trauma and nearly died shortly after entering the world. I’ve lived in a body shaped by what happened next, survived experiences I once thought had broken me, spent more than two decades leading and developing people, raised a family, loved, lost, started over, and gotten remarkably good at paying attention to what all of it might be here to teach me.

Along the way, I became fascinated by the forces that shape a human life: the stories we inherit, the ways we learn to belong, the power we give away, the knowing we learn to doubt, and that unmistakable feeling when something inside us comes fully alive.

Today, I’m a writer, speaker and weaver. I use story, human development, leadership, lived experience and a lifetime of curiosity to explore the connections between things we too often keep separate, and to ask what might become possible if we trusted ourselves, trusted one another, and brought more of our humanity to the world we share.

Because after all that living, I’ve come to believe something surprisingly simple:

We are here to be alive. To love this life while we have it. And maybe, if we’re lucky, to leave a little more love behind than we found.
